Specialized Trauma Therapy for the Experiences That Change Your Life
Trauma Therapy
Individual therapy personalized to you
Trauma can change the way you experience yourself, your relationships, your body, and the world around you. Whether trauma comes from an accident, medical experience, injury, relationship, childhood experience, or another life-changing event, its effects can continue long after the event itself is over.
At Smiles Trauma Recovery, trauma therapy is designed to help you understand what happened, reconnect with yourself, and develop the tools to move forward. We provide compassionate, evidence-based trauma therapy for children and adults experiencing PTSD, anxiety, emotional distress, changes in identity or relationships, and other lasting effects of trauma.
Therapy begins with safety and connection. You don't have to have everything figured out before you begin, and you don't have to tell your story before you're ready. We meet you where you are, work at a pace that feels manageable, and tailor treatment to your individual needs and goals.
Our approach may include EMDR and other evidence-based trauma therapies, along with practical tools to support emotional regulation, nervous system awareness, coping, and everyday functioning.
The goal isn't simply to help you get back to who you were before. It's to help you understand yourself, strengthen your capacity to navigate what comes next, and build a meaningful life moving forward.
Clinical Supervision
Clinical supervision is an opportunity to grow your skills, strengthen your clinical confidence, and develop your own authentic voice as a therapist.
My approach to supervision is grounded in the developmental model, meeting each clinician where they are in their professional development and building from there. Supervision is tailored to your experience, strengths, learning style, and evolving clinical needs.
Together, we may explore challenging cases, strengthen clinical decision-making, develop trauma-informed skills, and navigate the complexities of therapeutic work with greater confidence and competence.
My goal isn't to tell you how to be a therapist. It's to help you understand the clinical terrain, recognize your strengths, develop the tools you need, and grow into the clinician you are becoming.
Clinical Supervision is available for therapists and social workers pursuing Supervised Private Practice in Arizona, as well as clinicians seeking ongoing professional development and mentorship.

Traumatic Brain Injury & Personal Injury Care
Individual therapy personalized to you
An accident or injury can change the way you move through the world. You may be coping with pain, changes in thinking or functioning, uncertainty about the future, or a sense that you aren't quite the same person you were before.
We specialize in supporting people through the psychological impact of personal injury, traumatic brain injury, chronic pain, and complex medical experiences. We understand that healing doesn't happen in isolation. Medical care, physical recovery, emotional trauma, relationships, and the demands of a personal injury claim can all become part of the same journey.
We hold the clinical, physical, and procedural aspects of that journey together—providing a place where you can feel understood, develop the tools you need, and begin finding your way forward.
Case Management & Care Coordination
We coordinate care with your healthcare providers, attorneys, case managers, and other professionals involved in your recovery, when appropriate and with your authorization. Our goal is to support clear communication, continuity of care, and a coordinated approach to your treatment and recovery
Documentation & Communication
We practice clinical integrity, professionalism, and discretion, including when records may support understanding of psychological impact, treatment needs, and functional impact within appropriate legal contexts.
We welcome referrals from attorneys, physicians, psychiatric providers, case managers, rehabilitation professionals, and other healthcare providers. We value collaboration and thoughtful communication to support continuity of care throughout the recovery process.

Clinical approach
Clear, practical, and grounded in research.
Trauma recovery is not one-size-fits-all. Our approach draws from evidence-based trauma therapies and integrative clinical practices, thoughtfully selected to meet each client’s needs, goals, and stage of healing.
We may incorporate EMDR, Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Somatic Therapy, Parts Work/IFS, DBT, and neuroscience-informed meditation techniques to support emotional regulation, trauma processing, self-understanding, and meaningful change.
Rather than following a single formula, we consider the whole person—their experiences, nervous system, body, relationships, strengths, and goals—to create a treatment approach that fits where they are and supports where they want to go.
-
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is an evidence-based trauma therapy that helps the brain gently process distressing experiences and reduce the emotional and physiological impact they continue to have.
-
Working with what the body holds, somatic therapy helps clients reconnect with the body and develop greater awareness of how trauma is held and experienced physically, supporting regulation, healing, and a greater sense of safety.
-
We incorporate neuroscience-informed, evidence-based meditation and mindfulness techniques to support nervous system regulation, increase present-moment awareness, and facilitate trauma recovery. These practices can complement other trauma therapies by helping clients develop greater capacity for calm, connection, and emotional regulation throughout the healing process.
-
Internal Family Systems informed perspectives helps clients understand the different parts of themselves shaped by life experiences, creating greater self-awareness, compassion, and integration while supporting meaningful healing and growth.
-
Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) is an evidence-based trauma therapy that helps clients identify and work through unhelpful beliefs and thought patterns that can develop after trauma, supporting healing, clarity, and a renewed sense of safety.
-
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) provides practical skills for managing emotions, navigating relationships, tolerating distress, and responding to difficult situations with greater awareness and effectiveness.
